Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Known locally as fuel assistance, this program helps income eligible households with their home energy bills.  Assistance may include bill payment assistance, emergency assistance and energy related home repairs – fixing or replacing furnaces for those families that own their home.  Any Minnesota resident may apply for the program from October 1, to May 31 of the following year. SERVICE AREA: Minnesota counties of West Marshall, West Polk, and Norman Counties

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Households are served based on such factors as household size, income, and heating history for the previous year.  To see if you would be eligible go to the web site listed below for income guidelines.

How do households apply for services?

Along with the application that needs to be completed, signed and dated, families need to provide proof of gross income for the three months prior to the month in which they are applying.  To have an application mailed, please call 218-281-9080 or toll free at 1-866-264-3729.  Applications can be picked up at Tri-Valley Offices and other local agencies.
